Greetings, When my machine boots. The 2 PCI multiport serial boards do not get installed properly. I have recompiled my kernel with the CONFIG8250SERIALNRUARTS = 9 Can someone please point me how to upgrade my hardware BIOS? It seems perhaps that the PCI BRIDGE and PCI EXPRESS Drivers are confused about sharing interrupts.or could it be something else? Thanks for your help! Well it took several versions of linux to finally get a version that worked.
Russ, I also noticed that there seems to be IRQ conflicts that prevent the serial driver from operating. Here take a look. An excerpt of lspci -v. IRQ conflicts should be a non-issue with PCI boards. Have you patched your kernel? I'm sure the problem lies in that there is little if any support for these boards in the stock kernels.
Glasvegas euphoric heartbreak 320. I know even the most recent kernel does not have support for my two boards the MSC-116A (16 port serial pci). There is supposedly support for PCI Express but it didn't seem to detect right with the standard PCI boards. I don't know what your machine is being used for but if you were to switch over to Debian 5.03 (lenny) I would glady send over my patched kernel packages. They would provide an automatic install of the patched kernel.
